Hello chaps.

Sadly I am now looking for one, for my Guzzi, a starter solenoid.

I believe my bike shares this part with some VW Beetles.

Part number : 0331,302040-540,12V

many thanks for any help.

The problem with the beetle is that the starter and solenoid normally come together, so it's hard finding the solenoid number on its own. Try vzi for a useful vw forum, or vwheritage as a useful supplier.

If you are handy most solenoids can be opened up even though they are not meant to be, and the contacts can be cleaned. Generally that's all they need.

If it's feked you have nothing to lose by trying.

One of these ? http://www.jcrsupplies.co.uk/products/STARTER_MOTO...

(your part number formatting looks a bit odd)

Many thanks guys.

The part number grouping was correct for the age of the solenoid, it has a new number now of course.

I was lucky, despite being on an Italian motorbike, it is a very common VW setup, and a local car electrical place got me another (it was completely shot, the windings had burnt out).

Bike back working again !
