Hi all,

I am planning my next car, and am keen on the Exige S1. Does anyone use one on a daily basis? I know very little about the cars practicality - does it even have a boot?

This would be my only car, and so I would use it for motorway journeys, multi-story car parks etc. Everything you would do with a typical car.

Is the car really designed with weekend use in mind, or can it be used daily?

Thanks for your help,
Laurence.

Iv'e just purchased a S1 Exige, picked it up on thursday so haven't done too many miles in it yet. I got one with the 340r seats/harnesses and they give me a bad back after 200 miles but apart from that I dont see why it cant be used for a daily driver. Ride height is ok for clearing most things, rear visibility isn't good but I drive a van so am used to looking at the side mirrors. The space behind the engine is the boot but their is no dividing compartment so whatever goes in there will be smashing around into the engine.Check on www.Exiges.com for more info, there are a few people on there who use it as an only car.

The car is essentially a full on track car for the road. It has no shopping space and is a pain in the neck to get in and out of. Once you're in you just wanna drive it.

Performance wise its an awesome car, handling is sublime, too good for public roads to reach its limits. Not blindingly fast in a straight line but no need to slow for the corners.

You could use it daily no probs, depends what for, and how many miles you intend doing in it. It will be wasted commuting in heavy traffic, you will get annoyed clutching and balancing the throttle. It just wants to go. It 'ticks' over at 1250rpm.

If you get one, get a cheap runabout too.

Thanks for your replies - I have decided on a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI as a result due to practicality reasons.

I could kid myself and get the Exige anyway, but I think it's just the wrong time of my life.
