Hi all
I'm just beginning the anticipated long haul of trying to find my ideal first 911, and I'm (hopefully) looking at a Gen2 997.
Thing is, I don't really find most of the wheel designs that my searches for Gen 2's have produced very sexy. I've always loved the crab claw 19" wheels (see pic attached) from the 997.1 generation, but these were not offered on the 997.2 models it seems.
Was this just because of a design change of philosophy, or are they mechanically a different size to the 997.2 19's and just don't fit?
Thanks - just love these!

Some gentle and well meant pedantry - I think you have your crustaceans a bit muddled - those alloys are generally known as lobster forks . . . because the spokes look like said item of cutlery.

Advice on crab claws - boil claws for around 12 minutes depending on size; mix with the brown meat from the shell, mayonnaise and a little cayenne pepper. Serve with crackers and lemon wedges and a glass of crisp white wine.

Should fit no problem. Just make sure you buy a set with the right offset rears for narrow/wide body as required.

The good news is these wheels are readily available, used, at very reasonable money. As a used set will normally need re-finishing, you also have a great opportunity to do a colour change. The 'lobster forks' look especially good in anthracite or smoked chrome with a polished lip - this combo works well against a range of different body colours too. Finally, a set of polished, stainless steel wheel bolts will set them off rather nicely..... smile

Info assimilated sir, I stand shamed. biggrin

Good to know the "lobster forks" do fit 997.2's - at least now as I get back to poring over the classifieds to find my ideal example I know that if it was perfect apart from the wheels I might be able to sort it rather than wait even longer.

Cheers
