Hi all,
Long time lurker on the TVR section here. With several family members owning various TVR models over the years and throughout my childhood, I knew the day I had my own was going to happen.
Collected yesterday, Its a 96' Rosso Pearl Chimaera 500 with a relatively low 35k on the clock. Chassis looks fantastic, much better than I anticipated after a good poke around on a 2-post lift, no wax-oil anywhere either surprisingly, so ill give it a bit of a clean up and apply the full treatment soon.
Just got it tucked into the garage and already started pulling it apart in preparation for its up and coming MOT later this month. Hasn't seen the road in nearly 3 years, been sitting in the last owners garage unused amongst other nice classics.
Im sure i'll have plenty of questions needing answered, won't be shy of getting my hands dirty ironing out the niggles myself hopefully!

Ha.. Just realised my image appears to show the car being suspended in the garage! Oops. Yeah I'd looked at a few cars in England/Scotland while over with work a few times and luckily stumbled across this one local-ish poorly advertised.
Just had the brakes off and found 2 brake hoses leaking while trying to bleed the system, yikes. Also can't believe the discs are only 260mm, and these are meant to be bigger than a 4.0?!
So braided hoses, new discs all round a full service kit ordered.. Been watching the exhaust sound thread with a rather childish grin so think I'll start with removing the cat and see how I like it from there.
Also, need a new dash, as expected. Quite fancy the stainless item as opposed to wood, leven the only guys doing these?

Yeah, the disks are small by modern standards, probably weren't considered small in the early 90's. Remember these are light cars so don't need huge discs. I've got braided hoses with Green Stuff pads on the standard sized discs on mine and they are fairly decent.
Haven't updated this in a while. Couple thousand miles done and still loving every second. Lots of fettling underneath in terms of maintenance and servicing which you cant see but I quite enjoy keeping on top of it.
Just re did all the fuel lines as well as under-sealing (clear) the chassis after a proper good scrubbing and touching up a few little areas with hammerite.
New dash, alloy interior kit (not in pics), roof, Clives decat, and changing all the lenses to clear to smarten up the package. Latest pics at the end are from a big road trip to the south of Ireland and then of a cars & coffee meet just last weekend. That's how its sitting currently. May get the wheels refurbished at some point to have it perfect but they aren't bad really.

Pre cats are out, should have said, I removed them when fitting the y piece. It does sound good, I'm hankering after a slightly more raw sound yet still. The club RO up here's chim sounds superb cracking and banging as he's goes along so I may look into a partial sleeving on centre section or removing some of the sound deadening too!
