Hey guys, wondering if anyone would be able to help me out here. I'm about to enter into a lease agreement with an online lease company but before they'll send me documents to agree the contract they want me to send my actual driving licence to the dealer supplying the car. I'm just wanting to know if this is standard practice, as it seems a bit off to me as they've already carried out (and approved) a credit check on me.

Any thoughts?

A photocopy of mine was acceptable for my lease (although it took a couple of goes before they were happy with the quality).

I'm not sure the benefit of seeing the original unless you appear in person so they can check the photo is actually you.

Totally standard. Some funders are happy with a photocopy, others (eg, Mercedes Benz FS) will require originals (same goes for other proof documents).

Yep - same here. Mercedes FS needed mine. It was returned to me with the car when it was delivered.
