To cut a long story short, I have come into possesion of a voucher for £750 that I can spend in most high street jewellers.

I quite fancy a decent watch to add to my rather modest collection (an old Tag F1, citizen eco drive and a few other cheapies)

What would you reccomend for this budget?

High Street? Oris or Longines I guess.

Could you use it to buy pre-owned from a high street jeweller, I know some sell second hand watches..?

Yes, Ernest Jones, Hinds, Samuels, Goldsmiths etc.

Just popped into town and none of these had used examples in their windows.

My budget was £500, I had some brilliant suggestions, especially from PJ S.

I bought a Hamilton watch in the end.

Are Tissot regarded as good quality watches?

I quite like the look of this, although I could buy two with my budget!

I'd look for a Longines Hydrconquest for £750 (you might find the quartz model for £500).

Go in and haggle on this :

Nothing wrong with that Tissot, but £330's a lot of money for an ordinary quartz chrono movement in a fancy case in my opinion (and the dial's not to my taste - I have a much plainer PRC200, which I prefer, but beauty and eyes and all that).

I don't suppose the movement is a LOT different to the one in a £60 Sekonda...

You haven't stated what style you're looking for – is it a chrono/diver or something a bit more elegant looking?
Do you have a Chisholm Hunter branch nearby?
