I'm currently looking for a car for the wife and have the opportunity to buy a very low mileage Renault Megane dci dynamique 1.5 tom tom, 110bhp.

The car is a March 2013 build with only 600 miles on the clock, the owner unfortunately passed away around 12 months ago and his wife now wants to sell it.

I have not seen the car yet but have been told it's been stood outside since the owner passed away. I believe there is a 4 year warranty on these but am a little concerned that it has been sat around for so long.

First question is are there any current or past owners that can give some feed back on the car? Practicality, boot space, comfort etc. Secondly how much of an issue is it that it has been outside unused for such a period of time and any things I should pay particular attention to? I'm pretty sure the first thing it would need is a service even with the low miles as it would be over due on time presuming these are 10k/ 12 month service intervals.

This car has only been brought to my attention through a member of my family and I would have to move quick on it if I were to go ahead. It will be primarily be used as a daily for my wife and our 2 month old daughter so needs to be practical. I'm trying to find out as much info on the car before I agree to view tomorrow as I don't want to waste the lady's time and haven't really had the time to research these cars.

Thanks in advance.

There are cars sit in dealer pounds for longer before getting sold as 'new' with more miles than this one. If the price is right then stop worrying. The worst case scenario will be some rusty brake discs.

PS - delete the duplicate thread!

I'd be mostly concerned about warranty. Assuming it's now 6 months overdue for a service I can see a dealer deftly wriggling out of any claims you may need to make.

Both have good points there thanks, I guess I would need to speak to a dealer to see where I stood reference the warranty.

I've since been informed that the owner had a letter through 6 months ago from Renault informing them they are due their free service, not sure if the dealer would honour this for the next owner but will ring and ask the question. Would be an extra incentive to buy as long as the warranty isn't affected in any way.

If the dealer tells you the service being 6 months overdue won't affect the warranty get it in writing.
