I am interested in where people would price this, and whether it is worth the trade.

I have a 2006 Vantage with 34k on the clock, and a very good spec. I am considering a switch to a 4.7 model, and have seen a potential candidate, a 2008, which is higher miles at 75k.

I was wondering what peoples opinions of the swap would be and where the would value the change.

Cheers

I think I would prefer the low mileage 4.3 to the high miles 4.7 car.

More miles can mean more wear and less of a new car feel. If I was looking to trade up I would be inclined to wait and get a lower mileage car.

IME the 4.7's can take the mileage easy enough
There may be the odd "consumable" item (brakes, clutch, wheel bearings etc)
The issue is more the resale value
If you stick much more on that 75k and get closer to the 100k "mental barrier" the value will drop a lot.

imo i would not change a low mileage car for one with that amount of miles even if it was a straight swop.

If it the performance difference between the 4.3 and 4.7 that you are looking for then investigate some well known 'Independents' that can enhance the performance of your 4.3 so it out performs the 4.7 in BHP, Torque and handling. All can be done within the same budget that you are probably considering by purchasing the 4.7. If you search for 'Project Jessica' it will give you some ideas.

Have to disagree with you there Tony, unless I have misunderstood you.
If you are saying that a well cared for high mileage car can be a very good car, then obviously that's true.
But if both similar cars have a dealer FSH then a 4k a year car is going to be worth more than a 10k a year car.
A generalisation but true for your average punter.

It is this one, I think I have decided against the flappy paddle box, but it did strike me as not a badly priced car if all checked out.

Have you had a good drive with the ASM? I decided against the ASM when I bought my first V8V (4.3 2007MY) after careful consideration and reading a lot of opinions. There were just too many people with negative things to say about it. I looked at clutch life, creep function and all the other things and it just didn't seem to be a good bet. So when I looked for a V8V, I short-listed all the manuals and chose the very best one. I loved it, cracking car to drive. Then I took it in for a service and they lent me a newish 4.7 ASM.

I bought it.

+1
This is exactly what I have done with my car at an indie, 4.3 380 BHP to 4.7 475 BHP, for the same price as upgrading to a 4.7 with standard 420 BHP
PM me if you want specific advice... smile
