My other half has lost one of the keys to the 986 - the remaining key works fine (thank goodness !) -

is there any alternative other than a Porsche centre to get a duplicate made from the one I still have

as always any help appreciated .....

I think you will have to go through your OPC. I needed a replacement key about 8 years ago for my 996. From memory it cost about £75

^^^Completely different type of key and key technology. Unfortunately, that sounds about right. Even Peugeot charge that much for a replacement key .

I was in Newcastle OPC this morning and was quoted £185+VAT for a key head and programming. A whole key and programming is going to be more but £300 still sounds a bit pricey.

Edit: maybe not if £300 included the VAT

Sadly, it sounds about right as it costs about the same to programme it to the car...

10% PCGB discount on the key parts if you are a member! wink

The transmitter is one cost, the blade which has to come from Germany is another altogether, plus the 'programming' cost at your dealer. So £300+!!!!

That's the same as the quote I got from an OPC for a new key.

I would try a specialist - the remote part of my 996 key stopped working and Nine Excellence replaced mine for from memory £150 (part + programming)
