Right, I moved into this property two years ago. We were abroad a lot so issues with parking never bothered us. Below is a quick diagram of goings on. There are bays outside our house which regularly someone tags an extra car on the end (even when bays are empty), on occasions this has been two cars. This has only caused manoeuvring out of the driveway big problems a few times. The bigger issue is joining Main Road from School Lane. Any cars tagged onto the bay spaces is causing us to exit onto main road from the incorrect side of the road of School Lane. Twice in recent weeks have I almost have a head on collision with cars entering School Lane due to them not expecting me to be on the wrong side of the road. So is this parking illegal or just selfish?

People know it's wrong as when I'm cleaning the car on the driveway and someone pulls up they quickly pull back out and drive off. I'm not one for confrontation, I'm also aware people are weirdos and can take great offence to me criticising their parking leaving me with a keyed car etc... I'd rather the police keep ticketing for obstructing the highway and hopefully the dozen or so repeat offenders get the message.

I see the problem clearer here.

You mean they are parking on the road on a corner, and you have to pull out to pass. Maybe start with a visit to the local police, one of these days there will be a head on.

I am surprised the yellows on the other side arnt a tad longer as well.

The parking area itself looks most odd as well.

It's parking at the roadside too close to a junction, just as it would be if it was footpath there and not a parking bay. I don't understand why people leave their cars parked in bad places. They must not care about them getting damaged regardless of the inconvenience to other people.

Most have absolutely no idea what the HC says about parking near a junction.

Thanks for the replies so far. What annoys me is there is a car park up the road rarely used. Also it's the same people who do it when there is bays available.

That's a joke!

Oh I'll just leave my car here, as if I've broken down turning into this side road.

Good luck OP.

To be fair (maybe) a closer glance reveals the sliver car's bonnet is open. Perhaps it broke down?

Did the police turn up?

Very interested in this as there is a Keep Clear that my friend lives at that people keep parking on to pop to the shops, totally blocks 5 houses in...

To answer some questions. It's not in Swansea. It is near Abergavenny.

The car hasn't broken down. The bonnet looked popped due to accident damage. Coincidently though the owners came back about an hour ago. Turns out they're the same polish lads who had a flat tyre last week and decided to change their wheel on the dropped curb outside my house.

The police didn't turn up in the end. They were "busy". I was told over the phone it is an offence and they would be fined. I was also told to contact the highways department and they would install a sign. That'll teach them! I think I need my old £700 jeep back. I nudge down the doors should at least make me smile.

After living in several different properties which all had private driveways, I've come to the conclusion that a driveway only buys you the parking space. Getting on and off it will always be a problem.

One has to wonder of the mentality of the driver, and the lack of interest by the police, probably busy trying to catch a speeding motorists.

It is selfish, but the lineage is horrible, needs highways involvement to define the junction/ parking areas.

Call your councillor.
