ok, so just noticed that I lost the 4th grill from the top on my v8v.... very bumped out about it needless to say.

Ive seen a complete grill for sale on astonmartinbits, but wonder if anyone has bought a single slate via the dealers or perhaps has 1 laying around (i know chances are slim to none)... or any other piece of advice to calm me down!

Thanks in advance.

Yes, i am actually quite liking it, I just wonder if the gaps arent too wide. I mean the previous setup at least would hold off stones etc. If it catches a stone now, it might cause damage, no??

Any expert opinion? I might leave it like this (still want to buy the slate/grill in case it goes to a new owner), depending if it is safe.

thanks for any input.

im actually thinking about leaving it like this, because if 5 slat if ok, surely 4 slats wont be more dangereous?

Only problem I can see is if someone chucks a chunk of Gouda out of their car window and it goes into your engine bay, having gained access through the widened aperture of your 4 slat grill.
Not to bad if it's normal Gouda but if it's extra mature might do some damage.
Something for you to think about.

It looks good, I'd leave it like that, at least for a while, if you don't like it in a few weeks, you can buy the missing slat/new grill then.

the grilles are surprisingly inexpensive, I just bought the AM carbon edition six-slat grille to replace my 8 slat grille.

The parts manual only lists a complete grille, so you won't be able to order just a single slat. FYI, got mine from astonmartincarparts.com

I'll be selling my silver 8 bar as I'm replacing it for the black 6 bar (cost £339 plus vat from AM).

Will be deciding whether to fit the black grill I have or to stick with the original on my roadster when I get back from a week in the sun, thinking probably stick with the original in which case the black one will be up on the classifieds in a couple of weeks.
Will be set of 3 month old Bamford Rose 200 cell cats going on there as well as unfortunately they don't fit on the S.
Could be worth a try on the breakers sites as well incase they have one.

Will let you know, thought I remembered a thread about you getting the cats but wasn't sure. Wish I had checked on whether the cats could be used on the later cars, didn't realise they had one of the cats in the manifold now.
Still I enjoyed them for the couple of months.
How do you think you lost the slat as they seem quite secure normally?

Yes i got some custom cats made, which work brilliantly. Love the sound.
Im not too sure on how i lost it, my best bet is put hole.
For now, I superglued the slats in the vertical holder so at least im not going to lose any more ( not that it matters, as i have to buy a new set anyway) and end of with a face without teeth...
im letting it dry and then ill clean of the residue and that should be fine.

thanks for letting me know after your holiday what you decide to do with your grill !
