Recently picked up a 172 sport in swap for my 106 gti. Its a 2002 "full fat" 172 sport with a few nice bits already done to it, the car is well known to me ive know the last four owners and have also worked on the car in the past. Quick list of bits done

15" pro race 1.2s with michelin tyres fitted
apex lowering springs
custom made decat and catback exhaust system
matched inlet manifolds
remap by RS tuning R/R printout for 174bhp, 144whp.
had the car weighed at the local weighbridge when i got it just for a rough idea 1040kg (take that as accurate as you will)

I picked the car up on a sunday afternoon and was booked on trackday for the next day. Give the clio a good look over, replaced both track rod ends and went and had a blast in it.

The track day went well apart from the soft michelin tyres didnt last well as you can see on one of the pictures, had a tyre come of the rim so needed to replace one of them and got abit excited managed to warp the plastic centre caps on the front wheels. Just fitted two federal 595 rsr semi slicks to the front, replaced the rear brake pads, bled the brakes and changed the fluid and also give the calipers a touch of paint.

Looking forward to the next trackday on the 6th october, cant wait to try the new tyres on track.

Looks nice! Will that not make the back end really lairy with super sticky tyres only on the front?

I'm going to Bedford on the 6th, is that where you're going?

This thread is relevant to my interests as I'm thinking of replacing my Mr2 with one.

Does it feel quick?

Does it feel quick answer is no, does it go quick answer is kind of. In a straight line it's as quick if not quicker than a 260 bhp focus ST just as a quick comparison.

I didn't buy it for speed tho, it's so much fun and puts a massive smile on my face. Round track it's such a capable little car. I had a go play last time with a E46 M3 and my mates astra vxr with some nice bits done, they were all equally matched apart from the astra quicker down the straight.

Personally for the money I can't see any way of having this much fun and this many toys. Just my opinion of course. Hope that helps.
