Car covers for outdoor use
Discussion
My MX5 will be coming off the road for winter but will have to left to fend for itself in the elements on my mothers driveway, which is 50 miles away from where I live.
I have been considering getting an outdoor car cover for it to keep the rain off it, but after a bit of research quite a few people are saying a cover can often cause more damage, either by the car not being clean before being covered and getting scratched or if the cover is damp inside it can damage the paint.
A Carcoon looks like a good solution but don't have the budget for it.
Can anyone offer any advice or have somewhere in the north west I could store for a few months?

I think mine is watertight but I'm going to put a cover over the hood just in case. I've bought a cheapo car cover and plan to raise it from the body with wooden beams or plastic pipes so air can flow under the cover.
Although I think water has to sit in contact with the paint for quite some time for it to have any effect.
