Good morning, I'm purchasing a 2012 VW polo from a garage which took it in as a px, I'm collecting it on Saturday as they were going to give it a service and check if anything needs doing (which they will pay for). The manufacturers warranty is still valid until may 2015, my question is if the car has this service will it make my warranty invalid as it didn't get serviced by a main VW dealer?

Hope that all made sense

Christian.

I thought it was conditional on the garage using genuine parts should it be necessary. I have had interim oil changes done by an indie while my Audi was under warranty. The Audi centre still undertook warranty work.

You don't have to use a dealer but you *do* have to follow the service schedule. So make sure the car has a full service history.

No, as long as the service is carried out at the right time using the right grade oil's etc you warranty can not be made invalid by the Manufacturer for not having it Service at a dealer.
