On my way home this evening I came up behind a Clio 182 on a lovely bit of national speed limit road. It's a bit twisty but he was doing 30mph, slightly less, me 55 ish as I approached.

I thought it a bit odd as it was clearly a couple of young lads and it had a boy racer tin can exhaust, albeit slightly hanging down in the centre section. Never mind, I slowed, turned off the sport button (!) and sat a sensible distance behind as we came down a hill into a village with a 30mph limit.

Suddenly the passenger hung out of the window, waved, then the car stormed off doing i reckon at least 70mph in the 30. It took me a while to catch up with him once we were back onto the NSL after the village...and there he was again doing about 30 again.

I just put it down to them being young lads with little concept of road safety and left them to it as they wheelspan out of the next junction, opposite a school, and stormed off in another 30.

I then caught then again turning right off the main road and they sedately pulled off. The next roundabout leads to the Avon and Somerset police HQ. Lo and behold the two lads turned in obviously ready for the night shift. One even appeared to have a police uniform on!
All very bizarre!!

Off duty wink

I used to work for the police in Manchester and working there didnt make any difference to how I drove, my colleagues were pretty daft sometimes, one used to ride a Sports Bike down Chester road at 130 plus mph on occasion.

Yet I get flashed for doing a smidge over 60 on a deserted, very wide, straight NSL road in the middle of nowhere on a perfect summers day. Still I bet that camera hidden in a bush makes a mint.

What's your definition of "smidge" then?

71 according to my paperwork. Really on the road in question you could have landed a jumbo jet on the damn thing.

Biggest nutcase on the road that I ever had the non-pleasure of meeting was an East Sussex traffic cop. Met him through a friend of a friend and did a few early morning rides when he joined our group. Absolute death wish on 2 wheels, a tosser with no regard to anybody else and clearly a complete hypocrite - over breakfast one morning after he had spent the morning riding at insane speeds through traffic on both two and one wheel, he tells us how he's working the following weekend and how he'll be on an unmarked R1 so he can nick bikes for doing wheelies etc. just like he had been doing all morning. wker.

Send an email to the police force, just from the times and type of car they will trace the driver.
Also the driver could well be a PCSO warden type, as the police seem to have legions of them and very few young police officers?
