Firefox & Google

I want to go to google.com - but Firefox seems insistant that I go to google.co.uk

This is in the address bar, rather than the quick search toolbar.

Any ideas???

I think it is Google doing the redirection as it does the same thing in IE

Have you checked everything in about:config?

It's nothing to do with Firefox. Google have recently started redirecting non-US users to a relevant national site. If you want to go back to the US site, you can go to www.google.com/ncr

Personally, I think Google is going down the toilet, what with this and the very broken new Usenet News interface.

Yep.

For anyone interested here is google's beta engine, when you type something into the search box it starts to suggest answers to whatever you are typing.

That new usenet search thing is awful. And I can't seem to find a way of using the old one..

Thanks everyone! The main problem I have with google.co.uk is that it seems to be out of action more often that not.

At least you're getting the UK version - google.com was under the impression that my (previous) works IP address was in the range for Italy, so we always used to get Google Italia!
