It's fine....
Under Schedule 17 of the Lighting Regs, very badly written I may add lol, it is stated that side reflector must be amber in colour UNLESS it is situated less than one metre from either end of the vehicle. If it is less than one metre from the end it is allowed to be red. Reflectors are not allowed to be triangular, but any other shape is allowed. There are no rules concerning reflector size.
Therefore red American style corner reflectors are fine.
