In April I had the headgasket replaced on my car as it was losing fluid and overheating. I had some other work done too, so it was quite a costly trip to the garage.

Recently the same car has again been losing fluids, water has mixed with oil. The car won't start first time and occasionally cuts out whilst being driven (I have only driven it a few times since the issue occured). The engine management light has now also come on, after a month of the issue being apparent,

I believe the headgasket may still be the issue, however would it be the cause of all the problems? And would it be best to replace the entire engine this time?

My mechanical knowledge is not great, so I will be taking it back to the garage on Monday, however I thought I would gain some views beforehand.

Was the head skimmed when the gasket was replaced last time?

John.

The head was skimmed last time, I believe the garage out sourced that part of the job to another company. The valves were also replaced last time.

It was apparently pressure tested both before and after being 'fixed'.

The engine is a 1.6 petrol from a Ford Fiesta Zetec S
