Mobile network - who do you use, and how good are they?

As as per title really.

Currently on Orange but I'm looking at my options with other networks since I'm considering going sim only with a new iPhone 6.

So, where are you based, what network do you use and how good has it been for you?

I hate Orange although I know that come renewal, it would be EE. My signal with Orange varies but is never that great - live in South Lanarkshire.

I fancy going with 3 next as they have some excellent deals. I'm put off slightly by reports that their signal is quite poor overall.

I'm on O2. They the contract to provide the coverage for Police Scotland's digital phones so coverage should be pretty good with them. Saw an article that suggested buying the phone was cheaper than contract but usage would need to be taken into account.

I'm with Orange, mainly because their coverage near the coasts is usually pretty good. However, if I was to buy again it would be with vodafone who seem to have the best coverage (allegedly according to my mountain rescue mates) around my parts - Helensburgh / west coast / glencoe / Arrochar / Dunoon.

My own phone is o2, pretty crap reception in lots of areas, good in Glasgow as on 4g, but poor for internet in a surprising amount of places, company phone is on Vodaphone, usually works where mine doesn't.

I live in South Lanarkshire and I'm with three. Signal is good in central Scotland, except the Lang Whang for some reason? 4g and all you can eat data in the city, 3G and decent signal in the rest of civilised Scotland, but nonexistent in the wilderness.

i'm using virgin mobile , just recently changed from o2. £18 a month unlimited data calls and messages on a 1 month sim only package.

Not had any issues with it yet..

They were terrible due to lack of signal


Now with EE they are terrible due to excess of spam but slightly better signal

I'm with T-mobile (EE) in South Lanarkshire also. The coverage map is a damned lie. I apparently should get strong 3G indoors and out, instead I have to go outside and stand on a rock just to get enough signal to make a call.

My Mrs is with Vodafone and the coverage is far superior here, its where I'm going next.

Vodafone are good on the west coast for 2G/voice; you'll get 3G in Dunoon and Helensburgh, but not in Arrochar, Lochgilphead, Campbeltown, Oban, Fort William, Glencoe etc. VF have been pretty poor for 3G in most places I've been recently outside of the big cities.

I've recently moved from VF to 3 and managed to get a decent 3g signal at the Clachaig Inn in Glencoe today; my Son on o2 had no signal at all and the Wife had a 2G signal on VF. I travel between the above mentioned towns regularly and 3/EE are the only 3G providers, and that is why I moved to them; however, indoor signal can be poor with 3, but if you haggle hard they'll give you a 'Home Signal' free.

Live in Glasgow, on the 3 network, never really any problems, better than 02 or giffgaff I was on previously, like you its sim only on an iPhone. Benefit is 4G and data free abroad in certain countries

Bit of an obvious answer, best bet is to have a look at the coverage maps for the areas you are in a lot.

I use Vodafone as it's the only network that has coverage at home. It's fine.

As I said I'm on three and Aberdeen city is good with 3G, Torry is ok with mostly 3G, Stonehaven is average if you're indoors.
