i beleive this is a worn input bearing...do you all agree? It says this in my haynes manuall for my Rover 216 whihc also has the PG-1 box.

anyone else had it sorted under warranty?

should this be happening on a 12000 mile S2????

this noise is mild but is worse than at 7000 miles.

tell me all you know guys, cheers in advance!!

insomnia too?

This actually sounds different to me. My S2 used to make the noise when you depressed the clutch at high revs. This is the opposite? If not then they all do that Noisy thrust release bearing or something.

My S2 has 22k miles on and is the same.

I think that to a certain extent they all do it. Also, I think the noise is so prominent as the gearbox is effectively behind the passenger seat.

If this was a Rover 75 you wouldn't hear a thing through all the insulation so I wouldn't be inclined to worry to be honest.

Exactly ...the K and its PG1 sound like a bag of nails...you can get away with it in a normal car..but in the Elise you can hear everything!

So far there are stories of "normality" and nothing serious becoming of the symptoms....so has anyone had it escalating and consequently requiring work??

The truth is: if there is noise there is friction...some types of friction are not meant to exist.....!!!
