Afternoon, PH watch experts.

I am going on holiday soon, to somewhere that involves abeach and lots of being in the sea. I'd like to buy something tough, stylish and low maintenance for the ocean. G-Shock seems to be the stock answer to this one, but I'm not so keen on the super-chunky digital watch thing. Neither do I want something that looks like it is trying to be an Omega Seamaster or similar.

I have some nice watches that I wear daily, but don't really fancy a) subjecting one to the sea, b) losing a watch when taking it constantly to get in and out of water or c) flashing an expensive watche around when in a poor country; the latter is both tasteless and a bit dangerous.

Any ideas for something that will last? In the past I made do wit £10 worth of casio rubber digital watch, but fancy something different. Any suggestions? Preferably rubber rather than metal band.

Any of these:

My choice would be the 007:

Delivery is usually 3 to 4 days.

If you can stretch your budget a wee bit, luminox make some cracking watches and pretty much bullet proof, ive had mine for years now and its been away on tours with the army, navy seals use them as well.

For similar reasons (foreign trip) I bought something matching your requirements.

if you're OK with plastic but don't want the "chunky digital" look (me neither), I went for this:

Casio Tough Solar

If you want metal then the stock, and probably accurate, reply will be Seiko. Go for a Monster in the colour of your choice from Creation Watches and your kick-off point will still be under three figures, delivered to your desk.

Thanks chaps – didn’t think of Seiko, not a bad shout, especially if they do something with a rubber strap (which I guess I could pick up cheaply anyway).

Liuminox looks good, but I am not stretching budget – this watch will only ever be used once or twice a year on beach/water holidays – happy with my other watches on the ski slopes. In fact, bonus points for the cheapest watch that I can find that isn’t a POS that will fall apart in a few days...

Seiko 007 as mentioned above. You can get a good NATO strap for them and they look even better IMO. I bought one as my activity / holiday watch. They aren't too heavy for a fairly big watch.

I just bought one of these, first foray in to plastic/g-shock watches. I'm not a fan of the digital G-shocks but thought the analogue ones looked much better. I'm really impressed with it, easy to read, looks good (subjective) and is light but feels tough.

Well within budget too.

This. Have had one on my wrist for the past 2 years and it's superb. Amazon was cheapest for me.
