Silverstone Porsche Driving Experience

My son (PH member "Stubbsy") and I did the driving experience today at Silverstone - 30 minutes each in 3 different cars. Really enjoyable experience

Well, put it this way, I managed to hit the limiter on the 4.0RS

TBH it's the first time I've driven a GT3 but yes I did feel a slight difference!
I think you would need to have them both for an extended run though to make a fair comparison so you could get up and down the box. Because it's only a small track never got out of 3rd gear.
Both epic machines though with exceptional handling and the grip was phenomenal!!

Not at all - £500.
I consider it money well spent, or more to the point, my Mrs's money well spent as it was a birthday treat for my imminent 60th!

The new track is better there is a nice straight on it where you can put your foot down, the older track is a bit tighter in the gt3 RS and the 4.0 I just left it in third gear going round the old track still enjoyable though!
I actually really enjoyed the gt3, I drove that one last I had built up confidence and got used to the tracks!
The 4.0 was an awesome car so much power, came off the track and went on the straight to test it brakes, this basically meant me flooring it from standstill and emergency breaking (when I thought I should) before I got to the end of the track, of course I kept breaking way too early until my instructor said next time I will give you the cue amazing how it stops so quick!!

I just wish they'd let you take the RS course on the Silverstone International circuit!

I'm keen to go back to try the new tracks, but really the centre's USP is that you may get to drive a car that would otherwise you may not get an opportunity to - ever!

My best experience there was a drifting course. I was in a GT3 with an instructor for half a day on their teeny infield part of the original circuit and it was an immensely enjoyable lesson in car control. I could of spent a week doing the same thing!

Ah, the low friction surface. Didn't realise they allowed the GT3 on that. Yes, must have a go at that some time!

I am on a couple of courses in October

Dont forget to take your paper driving license with your driving history if its a weekend day - my son didn't take his and they only let him be a passenger - no driving allowed.

Its a condition of their insurance and they cant check with DVLA at weekends because they are closed.

DVLA checks can be done on a Saturday, up to about lunchtime. PEC will have to adapt, as next year the paper part of the licence gets binned.
