Hi all, so we adopted a cat a week ago and for the first 4 days he was quite playful, very affectionate and genuinely a lovely cat.

However the past 3 days he seems to have become really depressed, sleeps all day seems moody just kind of sits there and doesent play with any toys or anything, he has also started hiding a little bit.

What could be wrong.

When cats are ill they can behave like that, I'd get him down the vets to be checked out. If he's a new cat then could be he needs a particular diet, can you ask previous owners?

As above vet visit advised. Does he have a litter tray and is he using it, have you seen him urinate in it ok today?

Well going by the cat program on the TV the other day, it's probably being dominated by another cat in the neighborhood, that is even coming into your house to eat its food! Oh the shame.

Doubt cat in question has been outside yet as the OP has only had it a week.

As advised, take it to the vet for a check up. As the cat is new and you are yet to learn all it's personalities it will be difficult to say whether this is just the way the cat is or whether it's poorly.

BIG clue into a cats happiness is its cleaning. If they dont take care of themselves and such then down the vets double quick time.
