Brought myself a 11 plate astra van the other day. Thou I love it, it doesn't half make some noise while on the motor way. Around 70-80 you really hear much else. I thinking its the brand of tires on there "continentalecocontact 3" I hoping this is the problem as a new set don't cost the earth.
The van is ply lined also has some work cloths in there to help adsorb some to the sound, thou really is doing my head in.

Some help would be more than grateful.

Regards

Way back in the 70's I had Mini van and found a layer of polystrene ( though I'd use something less of a risk in a fire these days) and a carpet ( possibly carpet tiles?) on top cured a lot of noise from the open rear end if there's access from front to rear( no partition behind the front seats.

Vans are noisy - it's just how they are. It's just one big echo chamber on wheels. Don't know if one is available for the Astavan, but some vans have a full height bulkhead behind the driver separating them from the load area. This might be your best bet. I regularly drive a LWB Transit and a Transit Connect for work, and they're bloody loud. Thankfully the stereos are pretty good, so at least they drown out the din!

Thanks for the replies.

I was wondering if anyone has luck with sound absorbing mats attached to the ceiling. Have two dogs that go the in the back and don't really want the noise wrecking there ears. I draw the line at getting ear muffs for dogs.

Cheers

I have the same van, cellotex (or however it's spelt) insulation wedged between the ply and the sheet metal plus a big old rug on the floor works pretty well.

Just an update, I changed the front tyres the other day. What a difference.

Thanks again
