Has anyone taken their test in something unusual? Standard 1.4l Seat Ibiza for me but I'd have liked to do it in my Dad's Jag.

Not very, it was a naturally aspirated diesel Clio.

To this day, one of the most hateful cars I've driven, although far from the slowest. hehe

Mine was a 1.0L metro.

slight deviation, the metro I learnt in was a carp car back then, my daughter who has just started learning, is using an instructor with an Audi A1 TFSI ! red with leather interiour. She's got a bit of a comedown when she drives her own citroen C1 :-)

Did 11 lessons in a Talbot Horizon then had a 4 month wait for my test.

Booked a lesson before my test and my instructor turned up in a brand new 1.0 Metro - can't imagine it had more than c.60bhp, but it felt like a rocket after the Horizon.

An 1.4 Nissan Sunny, not very powerful at all.

My driving instructor was kind enough to change cars a couple of days before so the first time I drove it was the lesson before the test. Still passed biggrin

118bhp '85 Saab 900i

Got stuck in road-works for over 20 minutes, middle of July, and didn't know whether or not to open the sunroof or my window in case he failed me for some bizarre reason. So just sat there, both of us sweltering and going nowhere, and I kept both hands gripped to the steering wheel the whole time just in case. Think he felt sorry for me in the end and passed me anyway biggrin

1986 for me too. Ford Fiesta popular ( a misnomer if ever there was one) producing a whopping 45bhp.

Following the successful test, each and every brake horse power was thrashed to within an inch of its life. Until I handbrake- turned it into a kerb.
