Hi,

I am looking to buy my first family automatic car (used), my budget is up to £3k.

I like hatchback cars with engine size not more than 1.6L and has to be either 4 or 5 doors. I am not looking for semi auto.

- Ford Focus
- Ford Fiesta
- Toyota Corolla
- Vauxhall Astra
- Skoda Fabia

I like to know which one is more reliable car? Please do recommend any other reliable cars.

Toyota Corolla, I had a 2004 1.4 T3, It was faultless and actually quite quick for a 1.4! The interior is also better than the Civic of that era in my opinion.

My wife did 186,000 kilometers in a Mazda 2 auto, in 5 years, with no warranty claims, & with out a single cent spent on anything but service items. It never used a drop of oil or water between services.

We replaced it with a Ford Fiesta. The auto box was replaced at 15,000 kilometers under warranty, It took them a week for god sake. She has had a loan car 4 more times, in the 35,000 kilometers since then, when they could not return it within a day. Not only is it a pain in the butt, but it is awful to drive. I am so glad she chose it.

A daughter had an Astra. It had an oil burning problem from new. They did fix it after a bit over a year. I never did find out what the problem was, as she was not interested in anything but getting it fixed. It had no other problems in 80,000 kilometers.
