I have a car in the classifieds and said "Muppet" emails me and asks me for the reg number when it is very clear in the pictures?

Why?

Are they stupid?

Not sure if I should even respond.

I have to hold some restraint. I had an "offer" (read insult) of £2k for a car advertised at £5k. I had to stop myself as by the time I'd finished the reply there were more fks and s in it than there were normal words.

I was seliing an Impreza a while back on Autotrader. Established with said muppet over the phone the lowest price I'd accept and around he came (with about 6 family members in tow).

He ponced about checking over the car finding every tiny little fault with it before making me an offer several hundred quid less than we'd agreed over the phone. I looked at him with disbelief for about 2 milliseconds before collecting all the cups of tea from his family members and herding them all outside, I swear my front door hit him on the arse as he stepped outside.

I couldn't bring myself to swear or rant, didn't say a word and just left them all out there on the driveway looking confused.

He knocked on the door a few times and tried my phone but I just went and sat in the back garden with a beer until they fked off.

Some people like a deal, some are just s

We get a lot of that round here - bringing an entire extended family and then offering half the agreed amount. Not for Imprezas though - usually Toyotas or Mercs. On a vaguely related note I've quite a few mates who are builders and plumbers - they get a similar problem from some people offering half the money when the job has done. They just turn the work down now.

Why oh why would you take an entire family to buy a car??

I sold my A3 last year and got stupid questions like "what colour is it" and "is it an S line" when it's fairly clear from the advert. Plus the usual tts after best price for cash (this one really annoys me!!!)

Lots of texts from morons too, I'll use the protected phone no. next time to prevent text messages!

Same when you're selling a house. I refused to let a troop walk through my house, I asked them who would would actually be living here and only let them view.

Just respond with the plate. Then see if a more silly question comes up or hey, they might even ask a couple that make sense..

It was an Alfa Romeo Spider.

I'm on my second leased (PCP? whatever) SLK now, and I have to say that the whole deal where you just give it back and don't have to deal with nobjockey buyers/timewasters was very liberating - had to be worth a grand in it's own right.

British daily life seems to have become infested with conmen, "get rich quick", "fk you" and just plain old chancers. It might be rose tinted spectacles, but I swear it didn't use to be like this.

The above.

Some of you 'appear' far too angry.

No one likes to be fked about, but you're only selling a car. I'd just have a little gentle fun with them.

When selling an FTO a number of years ago I advertised it as a non-runner due to gearbox issues and that it also needed a re-spray.
Advertised at £500 it was a good price at the time due to the large number of extras and running examples were going for the £4k mark.

I had a chap say he was very interested and so I thought "Fantastic! It'll be gone within the week!" but then in the second contact he stated he expected the gearbox repaired and the vehicle re-sprayed, but he wasn't paying more than £400 rofl

i always wondered why people ask me that question about lowest for cash....

was sat around the GF's parents when they had a car for sale, some bloke rings and asks that question, gf's dad replys with what his lowest was!

The bloke then turns up and uses this lowest figure as a starting point

I couldnt believe it!
