Prompted by the "regret" thread and by some of the nails I've traded in -

Do any of you (as I do) wonder how subsequent owners are faring with the pile of ordure that cost you thousands in repairs?

One bloke on the regret thread went to the pub to celebrate getting rid of his Freelander - but what did the next owner make of it?

I had a bundle of history checks and had to use them before they expired the other day, so I used them to find out what happened to some of my old cars. I found out that my much hated S-Type Jaguar changed hands every couple of months after I sold it, had a couple of really tacky and st personal plates on it and then was written off with a Cat C. A death at the hands of some middle aged chav finally owning a dirt cheap high mileage knackered old diesel "Jaaaaag" with his wky plate is the very least that miserable pile of st deserved.

Oooo I do hope that's what happened to my 2005 XJ - also a pile of st.

Well don't know about all your cars, but I'm pretty sure all my previous ones (well the ones I loved anyway) have gone to live on a big farm, with plenty of room to run around, etc, etc. wink

In reality, I suspect a few of my old BMWs have died a horrible death, either sideways into a wall or worse, modified to the point of embarrassment

As for the old Pug 307 I had on loan for far too long, may it have been a long and tortuous demise. Kind of like what it felt driving it!

I've often wondered this. More often than not the car comes back as untaxed, no MOT etc. when I check up on it.

Even a limited edition Eunos I p/ex'd with a dealer (he gave me £1000 for it) that only needed a new roof and a decent detailing to be worth triple that was apparently scrapped.

My old Octavia went up to Bradford, and has never been seen by the DVLA again. That was a decent car.

My first car is dead. I posted a picture of it up on a thread on here and asked where was it now.
Got an email saying it was gone.

The guy who bought it from the dealer I traded it in put his previous Corsa on its roof through a wall so I hope it went out in literally a blaze of glory. Was a pile of st that car.

2nd car was a cat c, but has been repaired and put back on the road. That was a great freelander. I do miss it at times.
3rd car and 2nd freelander I see sometimes on the drive to work.

I can only imagine the new owner/owners annoyance at having to buy new injectors for it plus all the rest.
st car. Don't miss it in the slightest as it was never right in 34k of miles and a couple of grand in repairs.

Current car is here to stay, hopefully unless things change, till it no longer becomes a road car but an off road toy.

You can be sure though, given the location, that is still running around up there...

. . . although it may have suffered two or three rear-enders.

My first car was sold to a good friend, under the impression he would pass his test within the next few months. It took him 3 years to pass his test, and within that time he scrapped the Corsa. It ran perfectly for the 8 months I owed it, especially as it cost me £150.

I would happily have taken it back, and used it as a project.

All of them bar the Golf are drinks cans and light fixtures now. Ironically the Golf was the only car that deserved to be turned into drinks cans and light fixtures.

My current car I have owned 5 years, the same as the one before, so if I go 3 cars back that's 2004.
Anyhow, I have checked and every single car I have owned, except my current one is on the great motorway in the sky.

I had a real nail of a Golf GTi that I was so happy to see the back of and couldn't believe it lasted until about a year ago. There are also a few former cars that I loved and can't bring myself to check their status, as I'll be genuinely sad if I find out they'd been scrapped

The Merc 300E went to Poland and is probably still tormenting a poor taxi driver.

The Saab 9000 turbo was to be restored but most likely ended up as spares. The engine was still going strong and it had one new engine mount, but I think that's all that could be salvaged.

My Cat D Mk1 Golf Cabrio ended up fixed and now resides in Bradford. A check just now shows it's still on the road which is pretty impressive as it had 265,000 miles on the clock when I last had it 5 years ago.
