I doubt it was him who drove the Renault F1 on Top Gear last week, probably Nicholas Minassian (sp?) or someone with more single seater experience, plus Minassian is French & has Renault ties

It is probably both of them - the whole point of him wearing a darkened visor is so that he is interchangeable - TV production companies don't like drivers being unavailable when they have booked a film crew and location.

I believe that Perry McCarthy was also the stig for a while.

I can't believe I am adding to this overdone topic. I couldn't really give a toss who the guy is, and Top Gear winds me up... I much prefer fifth gear.

Heikke Kovalainen drove the Renault last week - this from the mouth of the man standing next to the Stig whilst watching Kovalainen do the lap.

Julian Bailey filled in for McCarthy last year and I agree with Dom that it's entirely possible that someone stood in for Ben at times during the year.

AFAIK Rubystone is 100% correct, although I am not sure who subbed for Collins on occasion this yr.
