.... What have I done! Amazingly got factory fitted nav, heated seats. It's 130PD TDI with FSH. And by that I mean full. Stacks of receipts, if a wiper needed changing the guy kept the receipt! Oil changed very frequently went it needed it. belt changed 12,000 miles ago. New tyres all round fitted 6,000 miles ago.
I bought it because of that- the Service history. PHers seemed to think that if it has been cared it would go on and on- I needed a workhorse so let's hope it doesn't let me down.

So far the interior lights doesn't work. And the bodywork isn't amazing but not bad!

Wish me luck!

If you don't mind me asking how much did you pay for it?

Best of luck with the purchase! Always buy on condition never on mileage; drvien some absolute dogs with only 60k (genuine or not) miles on the clock

I bought an 02 A4 1.8t Quattro like this. A year later it's still alive and healthy. All it's had is 1 bulb replaced. Everything works perfectly and even the ac is still ice cold.

Friends have spent more on servicing or depreciation than it's cost me on total! And above all it's actually not bad to drive!

I'm sure someone is about to say that next week it will have a catastrophic engine failure, the gearbox will fall out and the electrics will catch fire...

Friend of mine ran a 2000 A4 1.8t Q from 30k miles to 210k miles and honestly I drove it at 190k miles and it still felt solid/tight - it's got 250k miles on it now and belongs to his sister, it's a bit rougher now, but it still starts, stops and goes well enough to pass it's test every year.

Sounds like a good enough buy if it was priced right, the paperwork would probably have swayed me too. I've had a couple of private buys now were even the original main dealer purchase invoice is still present!

It'll be fine. My daily clocked by 350,000 miles last week and its not even a diesel. Service it as required and it'll go and go. Don't get why we're so obsessed with mileage in this country.

Well, there is, actually.

For a start, stale fag smoke.

And then my BiL bought a car previously owned by an elderly gent; it still stinks of years of stale wee.

And not a smell, but who could forget the results of the interior analysis of Top Gear's second hand cars? hurl

OP: try Fabreze, or there is special spray stuff in the vets for removing animal (particularly wee again...) smells.
Also, a damn good hovering should collect a lot of smelly hair.

OP, I challenge you to a duel!

Two days ago I bought a 2002 Saab 9-5 2.2TiD with 190k on it. Mine also has an impeccable service history. Admittedly it's Saab poverty spec (Linear) but its a comfy place to be and works as it should.

Let's keep this thread updated and see who's hyper mileage diesel lunches itself first hehe

I bought an R reg Land Rover Discovery with 202k miles on it.
I bought it unseen, I didn't even collect it, I had them deliver it.
However, I had a chat with the owner, who seemed civil, and bought it mainly on the service history.
It had a wedge, all from LR and 26 stamps in the book, every six months a full service, regardless of mileage.
It ran like a pocket watch, it was very nice to drive.

Accepted! I'm going to service it regularly and hope it keeps going and going!
