Interesting one today whilst cleaning the car/moving the seat about.

Noticed that drivers seat wasn't responding to the controls, nor the memory buttons. I could hear the micro-switch clicking away though.

checked the 30 amp fuse (row E 4), and as suspected, had blown.

So I changed it and the checked the controls. Worked fine moving the seat forward, but when going backwards, "pop"...... blown fuse.

Any suggestions? Luckily the seat is in the right position.

My SUSPICION is that there's been either:-

1. a bit of water ingress from the pressure washer (wing mirrors are on the same circuit IIRC)
2. Something under the seat.... (not sure)

Thoughts? What do I need to look at?

Methodical disconnection of every item on the circuit would be easiest.

thanks smile

Can you confirm that the wing mirrors are on the same circuit? Just trying to whittle it down before unplugging everything! biggrin

Will stick another fuse in tomorrow after it's all had chance to dry out - just in case.

Could be frayed cables shorting out, seat rails binding hence overloading motor, a fault in the motor (burnt out windings) etc.

I really don't think that the wing mirrors come into it as the fuse only blew when you operated the seat adjustment, besides a bit of wet won't blow a 30A fuse.

Fit new fuse with ignition off then test to see what action (if anything) blows it again.

If it does and you can't see anything evidently wrong like an obstruction to the seat, I would probably remove the motor and check it out.

will have a look tomorrow - the urgency is off as the seat is in the correct position, but it WILL bug me until I get it sorted biggrin
