Challenge: Can you help me find a mint, low mileage Mk1 MX5 1.8?

So far I have seen a 17k mile red one. However that is not my ideal colour. Bright blue, black, silver, or grey would be ideal.

Any help or links appreciated!! smile

Forget mileage.

This week I scrapped my 68k miles 1991 mk.1, new hood, immaculate bodywork from the sills up.

The sills however, rotten to the core, the 2 strengthening rails running the length of the underside bashed and rusty, brake pipes rotten, calipers sticking etc etc.

Buy on condition not mileage, wish I had smile

Failing that I believe Goodwood Sportscars oop North will source a nice clean import to suit.

fk low mileage the low mileage once wont have been used which is now good for the car, it will have lacked maintance and the owner in most cases haven't got a clue how to look after it.
Engine 1.8 or 1.6 tbh not much difference 1.8 bit more torque better high end 1.6 more revvy and in my opinion the better engine apart from the detuned later up spec mk1 1.6 after 94.

Buy on condition rust is a killer there 2 types of mx5 ones that need welding and ones that have had it and aslong as its done properly not plated over and painted then will last for many more years. The rest of the car is bullet proof the engines in maintained can go well into 200,000 miles even more on original engines.

Mk1 common for rust rear sill/arches mainly down to blocked roof drains but any where that is metal can lead to rust.

Clearly I do not want a rust heap. I want the most mint example possible. Price no issue of the right car. If anyone sees one please let me know.

Get onto mx5nutz forum and nose round the sale section - most of the cars there will have been round a club member or two so youll be able to track history in great detail.

You are unlikely to find many with complelety clean unrepaired shell these days - mine was one of very few remaining when I got rid in 2010

Thanks. If I cannot find a really mint one I'll be buying something else. It was more a heads for for potential sellers - if you have something suitable and want a decent price please get in touch. I'll be buying something one way or another in the next few weeks.

Thanks all smile

PM me if you fancy a fully rebuilt Turbo Mk1 1.6.
Fully polybushed, BC coilover, powdercoated suspension arms and subframes, TR Lane roll over bar with harness mount rail. Zero rust as it has all been cut out and replaced with nice solid metal. So much more to list. Let me know if you are interested. Only selling as I just don't use it as much as I should.
