A few weeks ago a few of you were concerned about windsc reen replacements and there was a mention about some of them in the 'invisible' TVR container. At the time of discussion,I developed a four inch crack on the top centre of my windscreen. I immediately got in touch with my insurers, Footman James, with a £50 excess already on my policy, they put me in touch with National Windscreens (0800 7313625). Since then, I have spoken to the manager of the Swindon branch who tells me that my 'special order' windscreen for an S3 is now ready for fitting. It comes complete with a blue tint on the upper part of the windscreen. As my car is a 'summer car' and I am in no rush to have it fitted, I have made arrangements for it to be done after Christmas when all is quiet. They are allowing a day for fitting. Fortuately the manager is in to classic cars and knows an S3! So for those of you in doubt about a windscreen replacement for the beloved 'S' , they are about!

Yes, autowindscreens do list the S.

But I believe that it's a standard screen anyway. Ford Capri rings a bell but please feel free to correct me folks.

Yes I had a crack in mine two weeks ago, RAC fitted a new one after trying a repair, it arrived in two days from order. I was expecting weeks.

IIRC Cortina was mentioned as a source, but I could be wrong. Whatever, make sure the old one is removed carefully..

Contrary to popular myths, although the shape may be similar to a variety of Cortina, Capri or whatever, TVR had them made with a black mask for bonding to the frame.
