Just a few pics of the trip to Como. Awesome drive. 2072 miles with no toll roads or motorways once across the channel. Average 17mpg. No mechanical issues and did not use any measurable amounts of oil or water. Covered France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland and Italy and traversed the Grimsel, Furka and Stelvio passes. Followed the Top Gear route down the West Coast of Como and up towards Bellagio.

Nice tour! I've done those passes on a bike and have always had a great time. Would love to do them in the AM.

Which route did you take through Switzerland please???

You said no tolls or motorways so I assume no vignette.

I am pretty sure you cannot avoid it in Switzerland, they check you and get you at the border and it is for a full year. I plan my routes on avoiding the country altogether!

You need the vignette, its only £30 IIRC. I can't remember what the fine is for not having one but it wasn't horrific.

Great photos; I had a great time last year going to Como, Garda and a good few other places smile

Just returned yesterday from a trip that included Switzerland and the cost is SwFr40 or EUR34. One of the group did not get a Vignette and kept off the motorways. It did mean that their route to Mulhouse was via Germany but they did have fun smile
