Buying Fiesta ST nearly new or new ??
Discussion
Hi guys I'm considering gettin a fiesta ST I went on a test drive the other day and loved it.
The garage had a couple of nearly new cars there and I always thought these would be the best deal as I don't have to take the initial large hit from buying new.
However my mate mentioned "drive the deal" and they seem like very good deals almost better than buying a nearly new. Does anyone know if there any other websites like this as the deals on there at the moment don't seem to be as good as others I have seen posted about on here.
Also what's the lead time for these deals if anyone has used one before cheers.
Edited as I agree it read like garbage predictive text is the worst.

Try Broadspeed and Orangewheels which are similar to DTD.
Make sure you do the maths on these as buying new can sometimes be cheaper than used especially if you're using finance, strange as it may sound.
Ford tend to do deposit contribution and low rate finance on new stuff which are not available on used cars and don't be scared to play one dealer off another.

Am I reading a different post to others? The OP made very little sense to me.....
However, from the bit I did manage to decipher - depends on what your budget is etc. If they do you a good deal on a new one (i.e. 0% finance) then that MAY be an option, however, it depends if you can justify taking a huge hit on a new one. I would always go for a nearly new one - you may not get 0% on it, but the fact that the depreciation has hit is, in my mind, a big plus.

Just a word of warning. Don't go piling 16-17k in to one of these. Used prices are beginning to tumble, mainly as all the privilege owners flog theirs and pick up a new ford
But they are great cars, especially with the mountune kit. There's so many tuning options out there as well if you want to take it up another level.

Everyone who is saying 'buy nearly new' is assuming that there is a massive saving to be had.
DtD's price on a flat red, no-kit ST1 is £14,135 with finance from 4.2% APR.
The very cheapest ST from a Ford franchise (which happens to have the same spec) is £13,495 at 18 months old and just under 9k miles. There may be haggle room in that, but the finance is likely to be more and the car may well be worth more than £640 less than an equivalent car (but 18 months newer) when the buyer comes to sell. The new car also comes with at least 18 months' more warranty.
You'd have to do it on a case-by-case basis (and there may be bigger savings on something with more kit) but it's likely that the total cost of ownership will be less if the OP buys a new car than a second hand one.

We bought an ST2 through Drive the deal, it was cheaper than the ex demos local dealers had. Only downside was the 3 month waiting list. I haggled with local dealers on a new one but none got within £600 of the broker. In the end the car came from a dealer 30 miles from me.
3 months wow that is a long time didn't think it would have taken that long. That may change the story then as don't really want to take that long but I suppose depends on the final finance deal and if it is that much better. With the first wave of lease cars coming up to end of term within the next few months do you guys reckon it is worth holding off or just going for a pcp rather than hpp?
Also if you get the mountune upgrade after sourcing the car will ford still take it back at end of lease or charge you? I know warranty covers it but unsure when leasing a car if it is acceptable.
