I'd rather have an F50 than an F40.

Don't think you can ignore the engine in the Carrera GT. That sound is something else.

They both pass the test I apply to cars I would deem to be exciting:

Do I get a very real sense of my own mortality before I've opened the door?

The idea of driving a Carrera GT, F40, F50, Diablo or 996 GT2 is something that terrifies me. These are all cars I'd like to own.

Those two were spotted together in the supercar / rarities thread. CGT for me please.

F40 but that's because I'm a kid of the 80's, I'm sure both are superb but the few times I have seen a F40 it's always attracted a crowd, not many 25 year old cars can do that.

Carrera GT for me, without a moments hesitation - in fact I can't think of a single thing I like better about the F40.

An F50 might challenge the CGT for noise and handling (Idoubt I'll ever get the chance to find out first-hand!) but can't compete with the looks, so the CGT wins that comparison for me as well.

Careers GT for me please, but I'd take an XJ220 before either!

If you were genuinely pondering the question of F40 or CGT then surely you'd have to consider the Noble M600 too?

The driving position alone ruins the F40 for me, though I do love the looks.

The CGT has the sound, the ability to go topless, and is gorgeous in its own right, if not nearly as flamboyant.

I have to agree that I think I would find the Noble M600 the most enjoyable of all three to own and run on the track.

Carrera GT.

Though an F40 wouldn't even make my top 10 of supercars i'd love to have.

It's a typical Ferrari vs Porsche situation. From what I gather, the Carrera GT is arguably the better car, but the big kid in me would always go for the Ferrari (in bright red, naturally).

F40 for me. Non-cat, non-adjust with sliding Perspex windows.

It will always be my answer to the "If you could have only one car..." question. Just love it and it's an ambition to passenger in one, and to drive one. Will I achieve ownership? Never say never.

For driving an F40...the CGT is a tough car to master, the F40 is somewhat more forgiving once the lag has been taken into account. For future keeping the CGT every time and its build quality is awesome. Would I take an F50 above a CGT.....if it was my hard earned money to lock away yes....if it was my hard earned money to drive, no CGT wins. Ferrari prices are silly and are only going one way as investors lock away cars for future auctions.

Whilst the GT is still my Supercar of my dreams....the sound, oh the sound smile I have to admit that's the nicest F40 I've heard, some lovely crackles out of it. Ah I'd take either really !
