Alternator gone dead!!

Have 3 part numbers for it from different sources LRA 125, LRA 463 and A127
none of which match one on car. ( part no is unreadable but bolt holes don't match)

MY 82 tasmin seems to have number LMP 04 ? on its rear case.

Is 82 alternator same as 88 ? it seems similar but only has 55 amp compared to 65 listed in parts list

Can anybody confirm or suggest alternate part number

Thanks Robert

Hi Robert,
I've just had a look on my S1, but like you, I can't discern any part numbers on my alternator.

The Parts List on here suggests Lucas LRA 125 for the 280S,
but if the mounting points are different to yours, the best thing would be to remove yours & pop along to your local auto electrical factors to check it out.

The chances are it is the rectifier that's failed, which costs a lot less than replacing a complete alternator.
A lot of places do alternators on an exchange basis anyway.

You could try your local scrapyard, ( sorry, I mean vehicle dismantlers & recyclers ) but you don't know if a second hand one is any better than your old one.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Good luck,
Glen
