PH Massive.

I was wondering, as my car needs a new exhaust, and I was thinking of getting a stainless system, can I remove a silencer and get something like valves put in place so when I'm not hooning or on the motorway it's quiet, but when I'm on the hoon It opens up and become a little fruity.

I heard something like butterfly valves could do it, but I'm not so sure?

Any help appreciated.

There are aftermarket electronic valve kits for doing this, bloody expensive though as I recall.

Depending on the car, you can get aftermarket exhausts that do this... I think.

I think Hyperflow do it for custom systems if they're still around?

That's a possibility, although as mentioned probably fantastically expensive.

It's a Fiat Grande Punto T-Jet. I was going to speak to Infinity Exhausts in Bristol. Mine's badly corroded and beginning to blow a bit.

I went there to have a silencer removed as it kept smashing on speed bumps. He's a good guy, I think a lot of people rate him highly. He does good quality custom systems so should be able to make you something for what you want without having to splash out for an expensive valve kit.

Your other option is to run an exhaust with a bung in it. This is usually reserved for Jap stuff with massive cannons hanging out the back but you may be able to find one / adapt a rear box to fit yours. A Spoon N1 would work quite nicely. But again, Nathan (I think that's his name) could probably make you one.

A couple of friends have been there and made custom systems for them, and cannot recommend him (Nathan does ring a bell) highly enough. I'll give them a call today and see what they say.
