I'm looking for a second car to use as a work snotter, for tip runs etc. I have plenty of years worth of no claims, but those are being used against my other car.

I only want a cheap-ish vehicle (something like an automatic Volvo 850 estate) , but quotes are coming out at daft prices if I select 0 NCD on the comparison sites - can anyone recommend an insurer that will take into account my other vehicles' NCD and reflect it on the 2nd car? Or an insurer will allow me to list the car on a classic policy with limited mileage?

What's the best way to go about this?

Cheers.

When I insured the Mazda last year through Adrian Flux they mirrored my NCD from my main car.

This year I went through Sky insurance using the earned 1 year NCD and on a limited mileage policy. Surprisingly this policy allows me to drive other cars which the policy on my other car forbids.

Cheers, I'll try Flux.

Any other suggestions? Any small companies that specialise in this sort of thing?

Used LV and they mirrored my existing NCD. Been with them for about 5 years now for both cars and renewal premium usually reasonable usually with £10-£20 of comparison companys and usually a phone call will get it less than a tenner

Thanks, that's another one to try then - seems there may be a few options.

I'll just have to ring around a bit by the looks of it. Anywhere else I should be trying?

Classic line do this for my Griffith, might depend on what you decide on as a second car though.

If it's a classic, put it on a classic policy. If ever there's a claim, FAR less hassle with them sucking their teeth and going "Oooh, it's not in our price guide, can't be worth anything - so here's a half-sucker Werther's Original."

Obviously, if it's not a classic, just a middle-aged shed, then no classic insurer'll cover it and you're going to have to muck about with getting "bonus" mirrored NCD.

Good luck - I tried this with Flux a couple of months ago and they wouldn't mirror the NCD from my existing car to my new one (existing Saab Sportwagon & new MX-5) .

Ended up going through a comparison site and saving £200+ on the Flux quote for the MX-5. Their quote with full NCD was £150 more than Admiral's quote without any!

Thanks chaps, appreciate the replies.

I'll give all of these a go, just got to find the right car now.
