Hey guys!

Really keen to join this forum and get posting smile I'm a passionate pistonhead from New Zealand.

My wife and I are going over to the US of A in a few months time and were wondering if any fellow Americans could give us some advice and guidance on where to buy a used car, from whilst we are over there.

A few mate recommended me the following site, and would love to hear comments on it but if anyone has any other ideas I would love to hear them!

http://www.hertzcarsales.com/

Thanks so much in advance (hope this isn't seen as spam because it isn't!)

hertz are good , make sure you book via a co.uk or other euro site as the insurances you need will be included , our american freinds will have thier own cover mostly so thier .com site wont have it

you can also use quidco for cashback and google for some discount codes

I always went to Budget because they always upgraded me when they'd sold out of compacts to something a bit more interesting for not much money.

Tried it with AVIS and they had too many compacts because everyone rented Mustangs instead so copped for that one.

Hertz - I'll never touch them after a load of to'ing and fro'ing about damage that was already there, just a pain in the arse to deal with.

As said, boook via your local .nz site and the price will include all the insurance you need.

Any of the big names Thrifty/Alamo/National/Enterprise/Hertz/Avis will be much of a muchness, so just pick on price for the location and time you need.

I used hertz the last 2 times, direct via their site and used the AAA discount codes.

Last time I went was during the big recall GM was doing so they were down on cars, upgraded to a penske mustang for not much extra $, ended up doing 3000 miles in it was great fun.
