Car tax question

hopefully someone can help. i have just sold my car and sent off the log book. the tax on the car runs out tomorrow so i said i would tax as part of sale. i have done so but reading the new rules i am unsure on where i stand. does the tax remain with the car as it was sold before oct 1st?

If the V5 ownership transfer date is before 01/10/14 then new rules don't apply.

even with the tax due date being after the deadline?

If sale occurred before the new rules kick in then, yes. I haven't read anything to the contrary.
