But why do a lot of drivers default to the RH lane, even if they are turning left?

On my 1.5ml commute I pass 5+ locations where you can almost guarantee traffic keeping right is going to turn left within a very short distance.
I have even had people try to pull across when I'm on their nearside & almost side swipe me, obviously it was my fault every time rolleyes
One bloke in a battered Volvo S40 pointed out there were lines on the road, he wouldn't take it from me that it was HIM that had swerved across those lines!

Why do they do this?

And no, I can't walk or cycle as I need my car during the day wink

Frustrating when you get stuck behind some dawdler (most often a woman) then 1/2ml later they pull over as they are turning left & had no need to be in the RH lane in the 1st place furious
