It's by far the worst bit of meat from the chicken - bland, dry and a boring lump of meat.

Leg, thigh, wing etc are all far superior.

Is it just because people are lazy to get meat off the bone?

You can still cook breast on the bone - crown.

Done well its nice and juicy.

I smoked a crown on my Webber BBQ the other day and it was great.

I agree with the OP on this one. I much prefer the meat from the thighs, wings etc

If it's dry, you've overcooked it - probably in an effort to cook the legs properly. Meat thermometer, and stop as soon as the legs are done is the best compromise if you can't be bothered removing them and cooking separately.

Yeah it's possible to cook it so it's nice and juicy but you could do that for all the other cuts.

It is the least tasty bit of the chicken, though, even cooked correctly.

for the squeamish, its the least "icky". No bones, blood etc. Even though we know its not really blood.

It's versatile, easy to cook, goes with pretty much anything, relatively cheap, and low in fat.

Personally I like chicken thighs, prefer the texture and flavour. Also costs less smile

Yep, thighs all day long- you can actually taste chicken. Need to cook them gently though.

Chicken breast meat makes a good ingredient.

You can cook a delicious chicken breast quarter, bone in, and make it tender and juicy. Tender it will be by default because so much chicken is these days. To keep it juicy cook very hot, very fast for a short time - and then let it rest.

I cook a breast quarter at about 230C for 15-20mins slathered with Garlic Salt and Piri Piri. The skin is crisp, the flesh is tender.

Having said this we eat far more thighs, wings drumsticks and legs than we do breast. More fat = more flavour. But sometimes you do need something lean.

Oh yes. yes If you have to pick the carcass the Oysters are YOURS!

And as an extra - If the chicken comes with giblets then (if I don;t need them for gravy) they get cooked up and eaten by ME! Mmmmm.

I prefer the thighs and wings aswell. You could say the breast is leaner and meatier, with less fat.

I eat Chicken breast a lot, purely because it is lean and a good source of protein. The one day a week I let my diet slip I will never eat chicken breast, it is just too bland. IMHO anyway.
