Comedy series about two friends with a couple of metal detectors. Lance and Andy embark on a journey towards the discovery of a lifetime. Contains some strong language.

This looks quite good! smile

Potential for a comedy classic missed due to dismal writing. Big disappointment.

I found it inoffensive and mildly amusing.

What I wanted was potentially actionable and belly laughs. Is that too much to ask?

Watched it tonight, nice easy going half Jr entertainment. It wasn't meant to be a rip roaring comedy though. It is an insight into 2 friends and their hobby happens to be metal detecting
detecting. Mackenzie Crook was keen to state it wasn't a pass take of this particular hobby, just a look into people and how they spend their spare time etc.

With decent character development it could be very good.

I watched it last night. I probably would have watched it anyway, but was particularly drawn after seeing Toby Jones in Marvellous. It was all set up to be great with a great cast and subject matter .... but it wasn't. It was dull. frown

Beautifully observed and written. I have been known to swing a detector now and again so can relate to a lot of it, especially the digging up of rubbish, the scouring of Google Earth and the wife's lack of interest.

I enjoyed the second one a lot more. I wouldn't say I found it funnier, I just liked the programme more and could get into the characters better.

I guess I'm in the minority then thinking its a great series it's easy watching with a few laughs, getting a bit annoyed thinking they haven't noticed the spy and then there's the twist of everyone's other halves.

3 episodes in and looking forward to next weeks episode.

Slightly Off thread:

I did a double take when I spotted this story yesterday:

I'm still enjoying it. It's perfect easy viewing. The half hour passes quickly. I really like Mackenzies character.
