Your best cycling holiday / trip

I have been looking recently for a cycling holiday. It needs to be in November or December this year.

Went to Tenerife a few years ago but wasnt too impressed - the coastal roads were all motorways and heading into the interior featured mountains too difficult for me to enjoy.

It needs to be somewhere warm but doesn't need to be hot.

Had a think about southern Italy maybe. I like France but not sure how good the roads would be in south of France.

Considered getting the ferry to Bilbao and riding up to St Malo but might be a bit chilly at that time of year.

Open to suggestions really. Would be nice to go somewhere where I rent a MTB and do a bit of that too.

What about Corsica? Looked nice when the tour started there in 2013, undulating I'd say rather than too many big climbs but still a challenge

I went to Calpe in Spain a few years back. Probably the best 4 days riding I have ever done in my life.

There are probably better places but we went to Burgundy this year and it was brilliant. Plenty of cycleways around the vineyards if you just want a bimble or head up into the hills for a more strenuous ride. Roads are all mint condition and very quiet.

Corsica is fantastic, a great mix of French and Italian culture, went there about 15 years ago and would love to go back. It does have mountains in the middle, but would need to check maps more carefully to be sure. A lot of the roads are very narrow and quiet, but Nov/Dec may be too late in terms of the weather.

I'm going to Abruzzo in Italy in October, will report back in a month's time. It's as far down as Rome, but to the east of the central Apennines. I'm hoping to climb to the Blockhaus on the Majella mountain, hopefully the snows won't have come by then. If you stuck nearer the coast then Nov/Dec would be ok, but the weather can be similar to the UK, so if you are spending your holiday money then the Canaries could have a better chance of better weather for riding at that time of the year.
