Looking for a 2.2 vti lude, either the 185 bhp or 200 bhp model. They seem very hard to come by, so as a back-up I'd like to keep my options open.

Criteria:

Must be reliable, this is the most important factor!
Must be faster than 7.7 seconds to 60mph, and faster than 19.9 seconds to 100mph
Preferably 3 door
Must be N/A
FWD
£1000

What can you guys come up with?

Mitsubishi FTO would seem to tick all those boxes.

how do you get a criteria of must be FWD ?
if it's for any other reason than to fit into a FWD race class, hand back your man card

MGZS TD plus a bit of tinkering....

incredible chassis too actually (for what it is - a 30 year old family hatch)

If you value your spine/teeth, get the rover 45 version instead.

With the other £700 you can buy decent tyres or something.
