S2 Ride height

Hi, newbie on here, I have an S2, which after a great trackday has recently been grounding on speed bumps etc.
Can I adjust my ride height anyhow?
I suspect it's been lowered by the trackday speed (130) and loadings as I now ground out getting into my garage
Any help gratefully received

Ride height can be adjusted if you have adjustable shocks. If it’s changed since a track day you may have broken a spring, tired suspension bushes, broken or sagging exhaust supports. Also your chassis or suspension arms may have suffered damage if there’s any serious corrosion.

You've got a good 'un if it'll pull 130! (or a dodgey speedo)


If rear shocks are still the originals they are not adjustable but there is a good chance they'll have been replaced at some time in the cars life so they may be?

Take a look at them, if there is a large thread all around the outside of the main body then yes, they are adjustable. If they are smooth and the seat the bottom end of the spring sits on appears to be welded to the body then no, they are fixed.

Hi Adrian & welcome!

If it's your exhaust that is grounding ( downpipe clamps? ) I suggest you check your engine mounts haven't split or gone saggy.

Check the clearance between the anti-roll bar and the engine sump.
Should be around 3/4 of an inch. If it's less than 1/2 an inch, it's a good sign your engine mounts are past their best. Worst case scenario is when the ARB chafes it's way through the sump pan - not good.

It is possible to fit shims between engine mounts & the mounting brackets, but this is really postponing the inevitable.

The mounts ( 50mm ) are available from Burton Power, Part No FP292 I believe.

Not the best of jobs. plenty of threads on here if you do a search.

If this is not the cause, then follow the previous sage advice.

It's worth bearing in mind that a good trackday can result in 2 or 3 mm of tyre tread kind of ... err.....vanishing

Thanks for all the good advice guys, I hadn't thought of the engine mounts and suspect it could be them as it is the clamps that are grounding, will investigate at the weekend

I hope she is a good one as only done about 30k, but a bit tired in places, mainly interior
