A friend & myself are planning to take two cars to Spa next year for one of the UK organised two day track events.

Any thoughts on a decent hotel not too far away from the circuit that has a good size / accessible car park?

We're old farts & like to be comfortable / enjoy the weekend food etc, & will have a two car transporter so need some room in the car park (been to the circuit before in one of the cars - old Lotus Elan - for the historic racing weekend - & stayed in the town itself but that hotel would not be suitable for the transporter parking)

Thanks.

Radisson BLU Palace

Been there twice this year & there again next year.

They open up the large piece of land in front of hotel for trucks/trailers/cars.

Booking.com tend to have best deal for them

Hotel is excellently located in centre with some nice cafe/restaurant/bars etc & just 10 mins from circuit

Thanks NC that looks like a good option.

Last visit we stayed in The Best Western right in the centre of Spa. Their car park is a short distance away, but with a massive kerb on the entrance & I couldn't get over this in the Elan so we parked on the street!

Hotel De La Source isn't cheap, but is literally on top of the circuit and has the most comfortable beds that I have ever slept in, so that should be a viable option (there is an outdoor car park for trailers and the like as well as the underground one for individual cars).

Five minutes from the track, great food and they also sell Hendrick's Gin :-)

No, they don't. For years you could get away with parking a few cars with trailers on there (as there is nowhere else to go) and the local authorities turned a blind eye.

This year for some reason lots of cars parked up in there and turned it into a car park instead of paying a few quid to park in the hotel car park - the police came along and gave warning to clear out then finally ticketed a number of cars.

I feel no-one will get away with it in future, which is a shame as there is nowhere for those with trailers to go.

I like the pit lane lodge in Francorchamps, not plush but owned by a great bloke who is a complete petrol head.

It has a garage for your cars at night and a great choice of beers in the bar.

While on the topic of hotels at Spa, does anyone have any recommendations for a decent place to eat around there?

A couple of guys with trailers parked half on the pavement/road right outside the Radison Blu. Arrived after 6pm and away first thing the next day.

Second that the hotel De La Source, it's not the cheapest and the bar service is an acquired taste (you need to be forceful to get served) but it's ideally positioned less than 5 mins from the main entrance

If you dont mind being a little out from the circuit, Hotel St. Gereon in Malmedy is lovely, reasonable prices and you can walk into the town square for a number of nice restaurants in the evening, it is 6-7km's from the circuit.

When we go we always stay there.

I always stay in La Source... but the service in the restaurant is the WORST and the slowest of any place I have ever stayed or eaten in.

It keeps getting worse and worse...

Hotels is nice though smile Was a 288GTO and A Veyron in car park last time I was there which was nice as well!

If you want posh French cuisine you can't go wrong wit Du Grand Maur. However it isn't somewhere I can afford on every trip to Spa; in fact I've only been there once - to celebrate my mum's 76th birthday after she did PAX laps with me at the Ring and Spa.

We usually stay at the St Huburt in Ligeuville

http://www.hotelsainthubert.be/eng_accueil_st-hube...

Small, with nice service, and the food is superb (it's great value too)

Its a 10 minute drive to Spa, which is a nice warm up for the car on the way

They have a back yard you may be able to use for the transporter, probably need to call to check

That's where you took us all a couple of years ago, isn't it? If so then yes it was great!

One other restaurant I would definitely recommend is Le Chalet Suisse, perfect for steak and fondues. Not ideally located, but great food and service.

When the local taxi companies refused to come out and return us to the Radisson, one of the waitresses took all five of us back to the hotel, in two journeys in her car. Superb.
