A well known vehicle checking system shows it as a "genuine" 8 owner grey 928 GT on that plate that changed hands recently this year - interestingly, it also shows in the plate history it used to be on H1*** - I'm sure one of the blurry shots of the car used in the press over this show that plate on the back of the car. Might have been deliberate but its pretty unlikely they would have a) taken so much time to find such controversial plate and b) had the balls to use it in such a potentially volatile area especially with Mr Clarkson on an alleged final warning from the BBC for his past mishaps.....

Clarkson said on twitter, How you can "just change it" I'm not sure. Not sure if the local dvla office was open

And then if you looks carefully, it looks like it was finally on H1VAE
I wonder if they bought it on h1 vae, fairly innocently, then noticed its history had an interesting plate and took off the cherished plate. Would explain how they could quickly find another uk plate in Argentina . They must have had h1 vae with them.

Friend of mine was out there recently filming the WTCC and she absolutely loved it - wants to go back. I don't doubt there was some deliberate stirring involved here just as they've done in other series. TG is a *massive* earner for the BBC - the presenters know it and take the piss in the knowledge they'll get away with it.
With the mess their country is in and technical default on loans they'll use anything to distract the masses from the realities of their situation.
Clarkson is a bit of a buffoon but he's been making a living out of that for years so can't knock him for it.
And I do like the fact that he's often prepared to go out on a limb and say the things publicly that most other public figures wouldn't dare to say due to our overwhelming fear of public correctness.

Anyone remember the Korea trip and the moped thing in stars and stripes blaring out born in the USA or something similar?
And the trip through southern states of America where they promoted homosexuality and got stoned and driven out...
Reg or not, there was bound to be some argie bargie (pun most definitely intended)
They could do worse than getting Chris Harris to take over from Clarkson although I suspect its more than just Clarkson behind the cockery

Re dinasaur comment he's no dinasaur and neither am I. Comedy is comedy and some people have their heads way up their backsides. Those are the eejits who've made Clarkson the squillionaire he is today. Good luck to the man.
