Some of you know that I work in Afghanistan and last time I was home back around beginning of May I bought my 4.7 V8 Vantage. Well for 3 weeks I had that car until May 17th I returned for another long stint back in the land of dust and sand!
Finally NATO who I work for allowed me back home on the 2nd Oct! But back in good old Blighty 2 days after returning to Afghan AMW took the car back to sort out my TPMS that was playing up and slight hesitation that occasionally had started. Simon, my Service Manager chap there kept me updated on the whole progress throughout. AMW were awesome throughout and cannot fault them. Ranging from putting a fresh new set of tyres on to unofficially allowing thee car to stay at AMW for the whole period while I'm away.......which let's be honest is one of the better places to long term store your car whilst away!
My journey back started nearly 3 days ago back in Afghan with a filled to the brim contractor personnel 737 out of Kandahar airbase, overnight stop in nice 5 star hotel in Dubai, 5 hour delayed flight on a Qantas A380 which got me in at 5 in the afternoon with a "well how can I get to Newport Pagnell in time before it closes!!" thought now crossing my mind, a train to Euston, followed by a train to Milton Keynes where I then got a taxi to Newport Pagnell after having to tell the taxi driver where AMW was (really?!?!) and pulling up to a closed showroom at 8:40pm (!!!) but because of excellent planning by AMW I drove further on up to the Security gate I spot the Fire Red beast parked up.
Quick confirmation that iam the bloke who has spent nearly 3 days getting there the nice security guy hands the ECU (lol) over!
I'm now home in deepest Dorset which is also a different home I left as we bought and moved house whilst I was away as well!! And the car is sat outside awaiting it's new V8V *** number plate!!
Big thanks to AMW and Simon for doing the whole "looking after the customer process"!

Ross, yes read your post before - welcome back. Someone who does a proper job!!
I on the other hand just mince around designing and being boss
I bet it is a hell of an experience out in Afganistan. I travel around the a World a great deal, but have not been close to that area.
One of the great memories you getwhen you get back in your car after a long period away - the smell of the leather is wonderful!
Simon at WS also looks after me too, very very helpful chap, I met him the first time a month ago after nearly a year of working with him. They collect and drop off my car in their glamourous AM WS horse box
Welcome back and enjoy your new car, new house... (Anything else new?)
